Catalytic Conversion of High Fructose Corn Syrup to Methyl Lactate with Coo@Silicalite-1

نویسندگان

چکیده

Methyl lactate (MLA), a versatile biomass platform, was typically produced from the catalytic conversion of high-priced fructose in most research studies. High corn syrup (HFCS) is mixture glucose, fructose, and water, an economical substitute for to produce MLA due much lower cost separation drying processes. However, transformation HFCS still challenge its complex components presence water. In this work, over CoO@silicalite-1 catalyst synthesized via straightforward post citric acid treatment has been reported. The maximum yield reached 43.8% at 180 oC 18 h after optimizing reaction conditions Co loading. Interestingly, adding extra 3% water could further increase yield, implying that our also capable upgrading wet HFCS. As result, costly process can be avoided. Moreover, activity regenerated least four cycles facile calcination air. This study, therefore, will provide new opportunity not only solve HFCS-overproduction issues but value-added MLA.

Metabolic danger of high-fructose corn syrup

The food industry has long known that "a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down in the most delightful way." And cane sugar had been America's most delightful sweetener of choice, that is, until the 1970s, when the much less expensive corn-derived sweeteners like maltodextrin and high-fructose corn syrup were developed. While regular table sugar (sucrose) is 50% fructose and 50% glucose, ...

High Fructose Corn Syrup: A Potential Feed for Honey Bee

The honey bee obtains its all nutritional  demands from nectar and pollen. In the case of nectar and pollen limitation, beekeepers use a substitute. It has been a long time that sucrose is used as the conventional substitute for nectar and pollen in the bee feeding to provide its nutritional needs during winter and stimulation of springchr('39')s larval nourishment. High fructose corn syrup is ...

High fructose corn syrup: Production, uses and public health concerns

High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is a liquid alternative sweetener to sucrose that is made from corn, the “king of crops” using chemicals (caustic soda, hydrochloric acid) and enzymes ( -amylase and glucoamylase) to hydrolyze corn starch to corn syrup containing mostly glucose and a third enzyme (glucose isomerase) to isomerize glucose in corn syrup to fructose to yield HFCS products classified ...

High-fructose corn syrup, energy intake, and appetite regulation.

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) has been implicated in excess weight gain through mechanisms seen in some acute feeding studies and by virtue of its abundance in the food supply during years of increasing obesity. Compared with pure glucose, fructose is thought to be associated with insufficient secretion of insulin and leptin and suppression of ghrelin. However, when HFCS is compared with sucr...
